Colombia security forces strike Clan del Golfo and ACSN criminal groups
Colombian security forces have conducted several major operations against organized crime groups, resulting in multiple arrests and the surrender of armed members.
In Antioquia, a military operation in El Bagre led to the death of a suspected Clan del Golfo member and the capture of four others, including a high-ranking leader known as alias ‘Isaías’ or ‘24’. Additionally, in Briceño, four members of the Clan del Golfo’s Juan de Dios Úsuga substructure surrendered to authorities, providing intelligence that confirmed an alliance between the group and FARC dissidents.
In Norte de Santander, authorities targeted the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN), capturing five members, including a squad leader known as alias ‘Miguel’. The operation in La Esperanza resulted in the seizure of firearms, explosives, and drone-mounted mortars.
In Santa Marta, a multi-agency operation named ‘Operación Diamante’ led to the arrest of five individuals linked to the ACSN for aggravated extortion and criminal conspiracy, including a regional leader known as alias ‘Pupi’.
