Clan del Golfo leader alias ‘Terry’ killed in Antioquia military operation

Colombian security forces killed Cristian Camilo Chavarría Tapias, known as alias ‘Terry’ or ‘Keiner’, a regional leader of the Clan del Golfo’s Edwin Román Velásquez Valle sub-structure. The military operation, conducted in the rural area of Jericó, Antioquia, resulted in the deaths of three alleged members of the criminal organization.

Authorities identified Chavarría Tapias as a key figure responsible for drug trafficking, extortion, and forced displacement across several municipalities, including Betania, Hispania, Ciudad Bolívar, Jericó, and Andes. The Governor of Antioquia also linked him to the murder of regional footballer Andrés Felipe Herrera Quiroz in Jardín.

In a related component of the Valkiria phase II operation, officials reported 55 arrests, the seizure of 1,011 kilograms of cocaine, 24 firearms, and the destruction of seven drug laboratories. President Abelardo de la Espriella stated that the operation significantly impacts the financial and operational capacity of the criminal group in the southwest region of Antioquia.
