Clara and Gruppo Hera Deploy New Ecological Waste Islands in Ferrara and Milano Marittima

Three smart waste collection modules, called Ecomoduli, were installed on the Lidi of Comacchio in the province of Ferrara. The islands are located at Lido di Volano, Lido delle Nazioni and Lido degli Scacchi and allow residents and tourists to deposit paper, cardboard, plastic packaging and cans using the Junker or Clara Key apps, or a Clara Vale card. Clara president Annibale Cavallari said the installations expand a flexible service that complements the regular door‑to‑door collection and have already raised the share of separated waste.

In the nearby seaside town of Milano Marittima, a new underground ecological island was opened on Viale Milano. Built by the Hera Group with funding from the EU’s Next Generation programme (250,000 €) and local sources (150,000 €), the system replaces 17 street glass containers with five hidden bins, improving visual appeal, reducing noise and enhancing safety. Municipal representatives and Hera officials attended the inauguration, emphasizing the project’s role in urban renewal and sustainable waste management.
