Mexico City inaugurates Utopía Temictli Tecómitl in Milpa Alta

Mexico City Head of Government Clara Brugada Molina has inaugurated Utopía Temictli Tecómitl, the ninth community center of its kind, located in the Milpa Alta borough. Spanning over 23,000 square meters, the facility is part of the city’s Public Care System and aims to provide equitable access to services in historically underserved peripheral areas.

The center includes 11 buildings offering approximately 80 free activities. Health services include general medicine, gynecology, dentistry, clinical laboratories, and mammography, alongside physical rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. Social and care services feature a community dining room, a popular laundry, a daycare center, and a day house for senior citizens designed to reduce the caregiving burden on women.

Recreational and cultural amenities include a semi-olympic pool, soccer fields, courts for paddle and squash, a library, a digital classroom, and an auditorium. The site also incorporates community-focused projects such as a native seed house, a community museum, a temazcal, and a center for LGBT community support and addiction prevention. The project represents an investment of 190 million pesos and is expected to directly benefit roughly 18,000 residents.
