Clara Brugada introduces new business verification model in Mexico City
Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada Molina has introduced a new administrative verification model through the Instituto de Verificación Administrativa (INVEA). The model shifts toward a preventive and corrective approach, specifically aiming to avoid the closure of low-impact businesses such as stationery stores, grocery stores, and cafes. The policy prioritizes guidance and regularization to prevent economic ruin for small businesses and families, while maintaining zero tolerance for corruption and immediate action against activities that risk public safety, such as underage alcohol sales or overcrowding.
Separately, during a commemoration of the Tlatelolco massacre, Brugada called for the construction of a movement involving workers, youth, and women to combat rising international fascism and authoritarianism. She described the memory of the October 2nd massacre as a democratic trench to defend rights and freedoms against hate, racism, and misogyny.
