Clara-Zetkin-Park basin undergoes historical renovation in Leipzig

The basin in the Anton-Bruckner-Allee within Leipzig's Clara-Zetkin-Park has been renovated following a restoration process aimed at preserving its historical character while improving ecological conditions.

Mayor Thomas Dienberg and Environmental Mayor Heiko Rosenthal inaugurated the site on September 21, 2026. The project included essential desilting to improve water quality and the use of historical materials to restore the banks and staircases on the east and west sides.

Further landscaping is planned for autumn 2026, including new tree plantings on the south side and the restoration of original hedges and perennials. The renovation was supported by federal and state funding through the 'Lebendige Zentren' urban development program.
