Clarence Seedorf appointed as Corinthians head coach
Clarence Seedorf has been appointed as the new head coach of Corinthians, signing a contract through the end of 2027. The 50-year-old Dutchman takes over during a critical period for the club, which currently sits in 16th place in the Campeonato Brasileiro and faces the threat of relegation following a streak of eight consecutive losses.
To accept the role, Seedorf immediately resigned from his position on the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Football Association (KNVB). His coaching staff includes assistant Pablo López, and he has expressed interest in recruiting Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Seedorf has already begun implementing changes at the training center, including increased psychological support and new internal guidelines.
Seedorf faces immediate challenges, including managing player injuries and a transfer ban that limits new signings. He also aims to revitalize the performance of key players like Memphis Depay. His debut is scheduled for Monday against Vitória at the Neo Química Arena.
