Claressa Shields challenges Kaye Scott for middleweight titles in Atlanta

Undefeated American boxer Claressa Shields is set to face Australian Kaye Scott in a unified middleweight world title bout on August 15 at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Shields, a three-division undisputed champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, is dropping from the heavyweight division to compete at 160 pounds, a weight cut she described as extremely difficult. If successful, Shields aims to become a 21-time world champion.

Kaye Scott, the current WBC and WBA middleweight champion, will make her first title defense against the heavy favorite. While Scott is considered an underdog, she is a seasoned pressure fighter with a decorated amateur background.

The event, promoted by Salita Promotions, features a significant emphasis on women’s boxing, including three other world title fights and several regional championship bouts. Shields also makes history as the first woman to headline a boxing event at the State Farm Arena.
