Claressa Shields reclaims middleweight titles with TKO of Kaye Scott
Claressa Shields reclaimed the WBC and WBA middleweight titles with a sixth-round technical knockout victory over Kaye Scott at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Moving down from the heavyweight division, Shields underwent a significant weight cut, dropping approximately 38 pounds to compete at 160 pounds.
Shields controlled much of the bout with superior hand speed and precision. In the sixth round, a powerful left hook staggered Scott, leading to a barrage of punches that prompted Scott’s corner to throw in the towel at the 1:38 mark. The victory improves Shields’ professional record to 19-0.
Following the win, Shields expressed interest in a high-profile matchup against unified welterweight champion Lauren Price, potentially between December and January. Her promoter, Dmitriy Salita, confirmed that negotiations are ongoing and that terms for a clash between the two Olympic gold medalists are being discussed.
