Claressa Shields to face Kaye Scott in Atlanta middleweight bout

Undisputed heavyweight champion Claressa Shields is moving down to middleweight to challenge Australia’s WBA and WBC champion Kaye Scott in Atlanta on August 15. Shields, who has dominated the heavyweight division, said the weight drop is manageable and is focused on the fight.

Scott, speaking to Boxe Sport, said she does not expect Shields’ weight loss to be a major issue and is concentrating on her own preparation. She added that defeating Shields would be a career‑defining achievement.

Shields also indicated that a long‑discussed showdown with Wales’ Lauren Price is likely to be postponed until the first quarter of 2027. Price, who retained her welterweight titles by beating Stephanie Pineiro in April, has not fought since that victory. Promoter Ben Shalom has suggested the two could sign a two‑fight deal, but the timing remains uncertain.
