Clarice Lispector's short story premieres as stage play in Rio de Janeiro
The theatrical production of Clarice Lispector’s short story “O Ovo e a Galinha” (The Egg and the Chicken) is set to premiere at Teatro Ziembinski in Rio de Janeiro. Produced and directed by Ana Hartmann in collaboration with Joana Medeiros, the performance is a definitive version of a work that has undergone various iterations since 2017, including presentations in the Netherlands and São Paulo.
The play explores the philosophical observations of a woman regarding an egg, inspired by a 1975 reading of the text by Lispector in Bogotá.
In a broader literary context, the legacy of Lispector continues to be celebrated through comprehensive collections such as “Todos os contos,” organized by Benjamin Moser. This collection aims to consolidate her short fiction, which includes 84 stories ranging from her youth to her final years, addressing the historical dispersion of her short works.
