Clarios and Piaxo partner to develop next-generation sodium-ion batteries

Clarios, a global leader in low-voltage energy storage solutions and owner of VARTA Automotive, has entered into a research and development partnership with Temesvár-based Piaxo. This regional collaboration aims to strengthen Clarios’ strategic position in the development of next-generation battery technologies.

The partnership focuses on developing battery management systems (BMS) required for next-generation energy storage solutions, specifically sodium-ion and lithium-ion batteries. Additionally, the joint engineering work will include inverter and supercapacitor technologies, which are essential for the safety-critical functions and modern electronics of contemporary vehicles.
