Clarisse Agbégnénou reaches semi-finals at Lausanne Grand Slam

French judoka Clarisse Agbégnénou marked a successful return to competition at the Lausanne Grand Slam, reaching the semi-finals in the -63kg category. This appearance comes just five months after the birth of her second child.

Agbégnénou won her first three matches, including a quarter-final victory against the reigning European champion and 2024 world champion Joanne Van Lieshout. Her run was eventually halted in the semi-finals by Poland’s Angelika Szymanska, who secured a win via a yuko just ten seconds before the end of the match.

The result serves as preparation for the upcoming World Championships in Baku this October, where the Olympic champion and six-time world champion will aim for a seventh world title.
