Clarisse Machanguana honored by Pedagogical University of Maputo

The Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP) honored former basketball star and FIBA Hall of Fame inductee Clarisse Machanguana during a seminar at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. The event, held as part of the faculty's 30th-anniversary celebrations, focused on inspiring youth through Machanguana's personal journey of overcoming adversity.

Machanguana shared her history of working manual jobs to fund her studies and her rapid ascent in basketball, including joining the senior national team at 15 and winning the African championship at 16. She emphasized that an individual's origins do not limit their future potential, noting that character is defined by actions and intentions rather than birthplace.

The seminar also addressed the role of scientific research and physical education in promoting social inclusion and health in Mozambique.
