Clarke Schmidt experiences biceps cramping during Yankees game
New York Yankees pitcher Clarke Schmidt experienced right biceps cramping while warming up during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. The incident prevented him from entering the game, which the Yankees eventually lost 8-4.
Schmidt, who recently returned to the majors following a second Tommy John surgery, described the issue as precautionary rather than structural. He stated that testing showed no problems with his shoulder or elbow and characterized the sensation as a cramping-type feeling.
The setback occurs as the Yankees finalize their pitching rotation and bullpen depth for the upcoming postseason. Schmidt had been auditioning for a relief role after his comeback, having made his first major league appearance in 14.5 months on September 16.
