Claro suspends OPPO smartphone sales in Brazil

Brazilian telecommunications provider Claro has indefinitely suspended the sale of OPPO smartphones across its physical stores and official website. The measure, which took effect on October 17, includes removing product pages from the operator's site and withdrawing display units from retail floors.

Industry sources suggest the decision stems from controversial financial incentives provided by the Chinese manufacturer to sales promoters. These bonuses were allegedly intended to encourage staff to recommend OPPO devices over competing brands. While Claro's internal communications did not explicitly state a reason, reports indicate the move also prohibits OPPO brand promoters from operating within Claro establishments.

Some retail sources claim the decision may have been influenced by pressure from two larger industry giants. OPPO's management is reportedly in direct negotiations with Claro to reverse the suspension, though specific details remain confidential. The suspension represents a significant setback for the manufacturer as it attempts to build brand recognition and expand its retail footprint in Brazil.
