Class Clowns comedy series to premiere on ABC

The new ABC comedy series ‘Class Clowns’ is set to premiere on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. Hosted by Julia Morris in the role of principal, the six-episode competition features six Australian comedians competing in various school-themed challenges to win the Class Clowns Cup.

The competing house teams include the Bin Chickens (Dave Hughes and Nina Oyama), the Cane Toads (Becky Lucas and Matt Okine), and the Redbacks (Luke McGregor and Bron Lewis). Challenges range from biology exams and practical tasks to drama assignments based on personal experiences.

Ahead of the premiere, comedian Nina Oyama made social media comments directed at teammate Dave Hughes. Oyama criticized Hughes for his frequent political commentary on the internet, referring to him as an ‘old guy who is addicted to espousing nonsense on the internet.’ Hughes has recently been vocal regarding Australian federal politics and government spending.
