Classic cars featured in Brazilian exhibitions and restorations
Several vintage automobiles are drawing attention in Brazil, highlighting both historical milestones and personal discoveries. In Balneário Camboriú, the Classic Car Show features three models celebrating their 70th anniversary: the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith, the Mercury Montclair, and the Pontiac Star Chief. These 1956 models represent the luxury design era of the mid-1950s.
The appearance of these vehicles coincides with the 70th anniversary of significant developments in the Brazilian automotive industry. In 1956, the Brazilian government established the Executive Group for the Automotive Industry (GEIA) to reduce import dependency, and the National Association of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) was founded. While Brazil produced approximately 30,500 vehicles annually in 1956, production reached 2.64 million units in 2025.
In a separate event in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, a 1971 Ford Galaxie 500 was recovered after sitting unused in a building parking garage for 17 years. The restoration effort, led by Tiago Pacheco, uncovered various relics inside the vehicle, including newspapers dating back to 1988.
