Classic rock songs reflect futuristic social and technological themes

Various classic rock artists have written songs with futuristic themes that mirror modern social and technological realities. These songs often focus on bleak themes such as the impact of technology on society, government surveillance, and widespread anxiety.

Styx’s 1983 song ‘Mr. Roboto’ explored the concept of machines replacing human workers, a theme inspired by documentaries regarding automation in car factories. Similarly, Pink Floyd’s 1975 track ‘Welcome to the Machine’ addressed corporate greed and envisioned a world shaped by algorithms and constant surveillance.
