Romanian summer festivals showcase music, film and culture in August

A series of cultural events are scheduled across Romania in August 2026. The Vrancea County Council will host a free outdoor classical concert by the Metropolitan Orchestra of Bucharest, conducted by Daniel Jinga, with soprano Oana Șerban at Crângul Petrești on 15 August. In Făgăraș, the KLUMEA concert featuring Daniel Ignat and Titi Cîrstea was postponed to 9 August due to weather. Sibiu’s International Folklore Festival “Cântecele Munților” runs from 7 to 10 August, presenting folk ensembles from Romania and abroad.

Other notable festivals include the 13th Dorel Codoban “viola with goarnă” competition in Roșia (16 August), the inaugural Buzău Wine Fest in Pietroasele (28 – 30 August), and the Family Farm Fest for children in Voinești (5 September). The Summer Well festival at Știrbey (7 – 9 August) will feature international acts such as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. Film lovers can attend the Caravana filmului românesc in Slatina (7 – 9 August) and the 23rd ANONIMUL International Independent Film Festival in Sfântu Gheorghe (10 – 16 August). Radio Constanța will broadcast the Caravana Teatrului Radiofonic (10 – 6 September). In Arad, the Filarmonica Arad presents two “La Băncuţe” concerts (7 – 8 August). Moldova’s cultural agenda lists numerous theatre and exhibition programmes for 8 – 9 August.

The Buzău International Arts Festival (BIAF) transforms the city into a month‑long cultural hub from 14 August to 11 September, featuring film, theatre, visual arts and a guest appearance by actor George Mihăiță. Suceava launches the first HitFest Bucovina (7 – 9 August) celebrating 80s‑2000s hits. Constanța’s County Council offers a guided cultural tour “La țărm de Marea Neagră” on 11 August. The Transylvanian “Săptămâna Haferland” festival includes a treasure hunt for children in Roadeș and musical performances in Saschiz on 14 August.
