Jeongwoo Lee wins George Enescu International Piano Competition

Romania is hosting a diverse array of musical events, ranging from prestigious international competitions to local festivals and exhibitions.

At the George Enescu International Piano Competition, 18-year-old South Korean pianist Jeongwoo Lee achieved a sweeping victory, winning the first prize along with multiple special awards, including best interpreter of an Enescu work and the audience award. The final featured top performers from China and Taiwan.

In Cluj-Napoca, the Jazz in the Park Competition concluded with the UK band Creature. taking the grand prize, while the Transylvania State Philharmonic prepares to open its new season with Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem. Additionally, the PICNIC Experience daytime party is scheduled for late September at Iulius Parc.

Other notable cultural activities include the “Iter Musicum Europae” Renaissance music tour visiting Făgăraș Fortress, the Brașov Philharmonic’s interactive “Symphony of Time” exhibition at Sala Patria, and a vocal-symphonic gala organized by the Pitești Philharmonic.
