Italy hosts various international music festivals and awards

Various musical festivals and awards are taking place across Italy. In Cagliari, the 19th edition of the Andrea Parodi Award will be held from October 15 to 17 at the Teatro Massimo. Renowned trumpeter Paolo Fresu will receive the 2026 Albo d’oro award. The event, which focuses on world music, coincides with the 20th anniversary of the passing of Sardinian musician Andrea Parodi. The festival includes an international contest with nine finalists from countries including India, Mexico, Colombia, and Spain.

Other notable cultural events include the tenth edition of the “La Palma d’Oro” international piano competition in San Benedetto del Tronto, scheduled for late September. In Sorrento, the XIX edition of the Sorrento Classica International Music Festival concludes on September 20 with a career award for Argentine pianist Alberto Portugheis. Additionally, the “Forma e Poesia nel Jazz” festival in Cagliari will expand its scope to include international artists from October 1 to 4, 2026. In Laino Borgo, the International Festival of Musical Bands concluded with a performance by the Malta-based Banda Filarmonica “La Stella”.
