Classical music highlights in Temuco and Madrid

The Temuco Philharmonic Orchestra will present ‘Viva Rossini’ at the Teatro Municipal de Temuco on September 25. Directed by David Ayma and featuring guest soloist David Gáez, the concert focuses on the early creative period of Gioachino Rossini, including overtures such as ‘L’italiana in Algeri’ and ‘Il signor Bruschino’. The program also includes the Temuco premiere of Luigi Cherubini’s Symphony in D Major.

In Spain, the Teatro Real is staging a production of Giacomo Puccini’s ‘Manon Lescaut’, marking the first time the score has been programmed at the venue in 102 years. Directed by Carlos Wagner, the production utilizes a carousel set design to explore the themes of poverty and desperation central to the opera.
