Classical music performances feature Vadym Kholodenko and Alain Altinoglu

Recent classical music performances in France and Belgium have highlighted diverse interpretations of Beethoven and contemporary works.

In Toulouse, Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko performed at the 47th Festival Piano Jacobins. While his rendition of Beethoven’s Hammerklavier sonata was noted for its power and abrupt contrasts, it was his performance of Boris Lyatoshinsky’s three preludes that received significant praise for its subtlety, varied touch, and expressive nuance.

In Brussels, the Orchestre Symphonique de la Monnaie, led by permanent conductor Alain Altinoglu, opened its season at Bozar. The program featured Beethoven’s Coriolan overture, performed with a focus on historically informed interpretation and stylistic clarity. The evening also featured pianist Seong-Jin Cho performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major.
