Classical music performances scheduled in Düsseldorf and Homburg

The Tonhalle Düsseldorf is preparing for a festive program featuring Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” and Nielsen’s Flute Concerto with soloist Lilja Steininger. A central part of the evening is the “Serenade” by Ethel Smyth, a work by the composer and women’s rights activist that is currently experiencing a revival. The concert will be conducted by Holly Hyun Choe, the 2025 Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award winner.

In Homburg, the Homburger Sinfonieorchester will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a jubilee concert on November 8. Conducted by Volker Christ, the program will feature Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, known as the “Pathétique.” The orchestra, a long-standing part of the local cultural landscape, will perform the event at the Saalbau.
