Catalina Vicens to perform medieval music at ORGUE&nd Festival

The ORGUE&nd International Festival will launch its autumn-winter season on Saturday, October 10, with a concert by Catalina Vicens at the Church of Sant Pere Màrtir in Escaldes-Engordany.

Vicens, an interpreter and researcher specializing in ancient music, will present the program ‘Phoenix. Sirenes de la divinitat: una crida a la vida’. The performance explores four centuries of medieval and Renaissance music, focusing on themes of spirituality, femininity, and monastic life. The repertoire includes works by Hildegard von Bingen, Francesco Landini, and Antonio de Cabezón, drawn from historical sources such as the Codex Las Huelgas and the Buxheimer Orgelbuch.

The concert is divided into two parts: the first features the organetto, a small portable medieval organ, while the second utilizes the organ at Sant Pere Màrtir.
