Claude AI chats indexed by Google expose sensitive user data

Thousands of conversations from Anthropic's Claude AI that were shared via public links have been indexed by Google Search, making the content searchable by anyone. The shared links create publicly accessible web pages, and because they are not blocked from crawlers, Google can catalog them like any other site. Users who clicked the "Share" button expected the link to be viewable only by recipients, not realizing the pages could appear in search results. The indexed chats include business project drafts, security documentation, personal creative work, legal discussions and even cryptocurrency wallet keys, prompting a heated debate about privacy and the design of the sharing feature. Anthropic maintains that chats remain private by default and become public only when a user explicitly creates a share link, but the incident highlights the risks when public URLs are not properly shielded from search engines.
