Claude-Alain Schmidhalter resigns from Swiss-Ski and 2027 World Ski Championships
Claude-Alain Schmidhalter has resigned from his positions as President of the Organizing Committee for the 2027 Alpine World Ski Championships in Crans-Montana and as Vice President of Swiss-Ski.
The resignation follows a temporary suspension by Swiss-Ski. Schmidhalter stated his decision was intended to provide clarity for the upcoming championships, noting that an organizing president facing an indefinite suspension would harm the project.
Schmidhalter faces legal proceedings involving allegations of fraud and breach of trust related to his private engineering firm in Brig-Glis. Swiss-Ski clarified that the ongoing legal proceedings are not connected to his official duties within the federation or the organizing committee. The interim leadership of the World Championship board will be managed by Vice President Sébastien Rey and Diego Züger.
