Claude Monet exhibitions announced in France and the US

The Musée de l'Orangerie will host an exhibition titled ‘Monet, peindre le temps’ from September 30, 2026, to January 25, 2027, to commemorate the centenary of Claude Monet's death. The exhibition will explore the life and work of the artist, who transitioned from a rejected academic painter to a central figure of the Impressionist movement following the 1874 exhibition of ‘Impression, soleil levant’.

In the United States, three additional Claude Monet paintings have been added to the ‘French Moderns: Matisse, Renoir, Degas’ exhibition at The Frick Pittsburgh. The works, which are on view through October 11, include ‘Houses of Parliament, Sunlight Effect’, ‘Rising Tide at Pourville’, and ‘Banks of the Seine at Lavacourt’.

Two of these pieces, ‘Houses of Parliament, Sunlight Effect’ and ‘Rising Tide at Pourville’, are part of the Brooklyn Museum’s collection and were recently featured in the ‘Monet and Venice’ exhibition. ‘Banks of the Seine at Lavacourt’ is part of The Frick’s permanent collection and returns to the museum following a period on loan.
