Claudia Moscone sets personal best at Sydney Marathon

Five athletes representing the Ambasciatori per lo Sport of Asti participated in the Sydney Marathon, an event part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors circuit. The race featured approximately 40,000 runners globally, including a group of 350 Italian participants who received significant support from local residents, aided by the 4.5% Italian-origin population in Australia.

Claudia Moscone achieved the top performance among the Asti representatives, setting a personal best with a time of 4h10min. Other notable participants from the group included Filomena Molinari, Vittorino Zaccone, Gianfranco Chiaranda, and Angelo Marchione.

In the professional categories, Kenyan Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir won the women’s race in 2h18’31”, while 21-year-old Ethiopian runner Addisu Gobena won the men’s race in 2h04’42”, setting a new course record.
