Claudia Ortiz reports internal conflict within El Salvador's VAMOS party

Salvadoran deputy Claudia Ortiz has reported internal conflicts within the VAMOS political party. Ortiz, who is running for the position of Secretary General under the ‘Avancemos’ platform, claims that certain factions are attempting to have her expelled from the party to prevent her candidacy.

Ortiz alleges these efforts are driven by individuals aligned with the administration of President Nayib Bukele. She stated that her goal is to transform VAMOS into a more democratic and technically capable alternative for the country.

In recent remarks, Ortiz also noted the significant challenges facing the opposition, stating that currently, no opposition political party possesses the realistic capacity to compete directly with the ruling officialist party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
