Claudia Sheinbaum announces major infrastructure and welfare plans across Mexico

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is conducting a nationwide tour to present her second government report, highlighting significant social welfare and infrastructure developments across various Mexican states.

In Veracruz, the government plans to construct 1,300 primary care clinics between October and December 2026, with operations expected to begin in January 2027. Welfare programs in the state currently benefit approximately 2.88 million people. Infrastructure projects in the region include the modernization of the Port of Veracruz and the construction of new bridges.

In Tamaulipas, major projects include a new international bridge in Nuevo Laredo, the North Gulf Corridor, and the modernization of the Port of Altamira. The state also sees significant investment in energy, such as the Altamira Combined Cycle Plant and the Madero refinery rehabilitation. Welfare programs in Tamaulipas reach 911,000 beneficiaries with an annual expenditure of 25.8 billion pesos.

In Chiapas, welfare programs benefit 2.33 million people through an investment of 45.17 billion pesos. The government will launch the Gertrudis Bocanegra Scholarship next week to support university student transportation. Additionally, infrastructure works like the Maya Train freight line and the Interoceanic Train Line K are progressing.
