Claudia Sheinbaum defends social progress and inspects rail project
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo defended the achievements of the Fourth Transformation (4T) movement, stating that the process of change in Mexico cannot be stopped. She highlighted that 13.5 million people have been lifted out of poverty since the start of the 4T movement, contributing to a reduction in national inequality.
During an inspection of the Querétaro-Irapuato train construction, Sheinbaum noted that the project has reached 25 percent completion. The 102-kilometer rail line is expected to benefit approximately 2 million people and has already generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
Sheinbaum also reported that the construction of passenger trains and housing is contributing nearly 1 percent to the national GDP this year. This follows data from INEGI indicating that the Mexican economy grew by 3.2 percent annually during the third quarter of 2026, exceeding previous projections.
