Claudia Sheinbaum demands U.S. report on drug and arms trafficking

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has called on the United States to provide a report regarding its own efforts to combat drug trafficking and arms smuggling. This response follows comments from U.S. President Donald Trump, who suggested that Mexico must take more aggressive measures to stop criminal organizations and should focus on investigating and prosecuting public officials with ties to organized crime.

While Trump acknowledged Sheinbaum’s efforts in the fight against narcotics, he emphasized the need for increased customs inspections, greater private sector involvement, and more decisive action against narcoterrorist groups. Sheinbaum defended her administration's actions, noting that Mexican security forces are actively working to detain criminal members and have recently arrested several officials accused of crimes. She questioned the flow of weapons from the United States into Mexico, stating it is indispensable to understand what is happening on the U.S. side of the border.
