Claudia Sheinbaum establishes advisory council for health sector digital transformation
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has introduced the Advisory Council for the Digital Transformation of the Health Sector. This group of Mexican scientists, specializing in artificial intelligence, operations research, and distribution systems, will work to modernize the country's healthcare supply chain.
The initiative aims to create an automated process for the delivery of medicines and medical supplies across the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), the Institute for Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), and IMSS Bienestar. Key priorities include real-time demand requests, warehouse and inventory management, and a last-mile logistics platform to optimize routes and predict demand.
Initial results are expected within one month, with full implementation projected to begin in January 2027. The goal is to ensure complete traceability of all medical supplies from purchase to patient delivery.
