Claudia Sheinbaum faces criticism over press relations and political targeting

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo is facing criticism regarding her administration's relationship with the press and political opposition. Reports indicate that the presidency, through Legal Counsel Luisa María Alcalde, has used the daily morning press conferences to identify and label specific newspapers and journalists as part of a “digital amplification ecosystem” or “right-wing digital ecosystem” that allegedly works to discredit the government.

Critics argue these actions constitute a form of censorship and a targeted effort to silence dissent. The administration is also accused of using legal and political mechanisms to pressure former officials, business leaders, and political opponents, while simultaneously protecting members of the ruling party from similar scrutiny.
