Claudia Sheinbaum Faces Teacher Protest in Acapulco Over Pension Law

Teachers belonging to the Coordinadora Estatal de Trabajadores de la Educación en Guerrero (Ceteg) gathered on Sunday morning outside the Polideportivo CICI in the Ciudad Renacimiento neighborhood of Acapulco. They demanded the repeal of the 2007 ISSSTE pension law, a return to a solidarity pension system, and respect for the 28‑ and 30‑year service thresholds for retirement. The group said its members were confronted by supporters of Morena during the demonstration.

Hundreds of residents and officials assembled to watch President Claudia Sheinbaum arrive later that afternoon. She oversaw the rehabilitation of the Renacimiento wastewater‑treatment plant, projects aimed at cleaning the La Sabana River, the Tres Palos lagoon and Acapulco Bay, and the progress on three radial wells on the Papagayo River near Aguacaliente to boost the city’s water supply.
