Claudia Sheinbaum forecasts Mexican economic growth for 2026 and 2027
President Claudia Sheinbaum projects an economic rebound for Mexico, stating that the second half of 2026 will perform better than the first half, with even greater growth expected in 2027. These projections, shared during a meeting with business leaders, are driven by public investment, joint projects with the private sector, and housing construction.
Sheinbaum highlighted infrastructure and mixed investment mechanisms as primary drivers for job creation. Regarding formal employment, data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) showed that as of September 30, 2026, there were over 22 million registered jobs, with more than 87 percent being permanent positions.
The President also emphasized the impact of the 'Programa de Vivienda para el Bienestar' and housing financing through Infonavit and the Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal. She noted that housing represents an annual investment of more than 300 billion pesos, supporting both direct and indirect employment across various productive sectors.
