Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurates National Agrarian Center in Mexico City
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum inaugurated the National Center for Agrarian Attention and the General Agrarian Archive in Mexico City. The new complex is designed to centralize services and documentation for social property rights, housing the National Agrarian Registry (RAN), the Agrarian Attorney's Office, and the General Agrarian Archive (AGA) in a single location.
According to Edna Elena Vega Rangel, Secretary of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development (Sedatu), the General Agrarian Archive is the second most important archive in the country after the General Archive of the Nation. The facility contains over 45,000 linear meters of documentation, preserving millions of records that constitute Mexico's agrarian memory.
The archive includes land restitution decrees from recent administrations, covering more than 60,000 hectares. The project, which began in 2022 during the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was built on land donated by Sheinbaum during her tenure as Head of Government of Mexico City.
