Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has responded to demands from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Mexico's fight against organized crime. Trump, through an annual report to Congress, urged Mexican authorities to investigate and prosecute public officials suspected of collaborating with drug cartels.

In response, Sheinbaum stated that Mexico does not require external judgment on its internal security matters, asserting that the administration is actively addressing corruption and crime. She challenged the United States to provide transparency regarding its own domestic issues, specifically requesting reports on U.S. efforts to combat money laundering, drug consumption, and the opioid crisis.

Sheinbaum also highlighted the role of illegal arms trafficking from the United States, noting that the firepower available to Mexican criminal organizations is largely fueled by the influx of weapons crossing the border. Additionally, she noted that fentanyl trafficking from Mexico to the U.S. has decreased by over 70 percent due to Mexican security operations.
