Casa Tlalpan to become public university and high school campus

The former residence of Arturo “El Negro” Durazo, known as Casa Tlalpan, will be converted into public educational facilities. The project involves an investment of approximately 150 million pesos to establish a campus for the Universidad Rosario Castellanos and a Bachillerato Nacional plant.

The property, located in the Tlalpan borough of Mexico City, was regularized through the Institute to Return Stolen Goods to the People (INDEP). The new university campus is scheduled to begin activities in 2027 and will offer five undergraduate degrees: Psychology, Law and Criminology, Administration and Commerce, Tourism, and Economics and Sustainable Development. There are already 3,067 applicants registered for these programs.

The Bachillerato Nacional facility will have a capacity for 1,200 students with an emphasis on arts and culture. This part of the project requires an investment of nearly 100 million pesos, and the tender for the works is expected to be published in November.
