CNTE Section 22 reaches agreements with Sheinbaum for Oaxaca teaching positions and school support

President Claudia Sheinbaum and the CNTE Section 22 of Oaxaca held a meeting at Palacio Nacional to address long-standing labor and administrative demands. Key agreements reached include the creation of over 1,300 new teaching positions and the implementation of teacher recategorizations and additional hours, effective September 1.

In terms of student support, the federal government confirmed an investment of 6.3 billion pesos in scholarships for Oaxaca, including the Rita Cetina program. Additionally, the President authorized the distribution of two uniforms for preschool students and one extra uniform for primary and secondary students. An extraordinary 800 million pesos resource was also reaffirmed for schools in the state.

Other discussed items included establishing a working table with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to ensure electricity in schools and reviewing legal processes related to the 2007 educational reform. While the meeting was described as productive by Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado, CNTE leader Yenny Pérez warned that the union will resume street mobilizations if these commitments are not fulfilled.
