Córdoba suspect Claudio Barrelier faces upgraded femicide charges

Prosecutor Raúl Garzón in Córdoba has increased the accusation against Claudio Barrelier, the primary suspect in the murder of 14‑year‑old Agostina Vega. The new indictment adds triple‑qualified homicide charges – femicide, criminis causa and alevosía – after Barrelier denied any involvement and refused to answer further questions.

The investigation also involves Osvaldo Fassett and Soledad Andreani, who remain detained on aggravated concealment charges. A new witness, identified only as “Carla,” testified that a network of prostitution and drug trafficking operated around the suspects, prompting lawyer Fernanda Alaniz to argue that Andreani is a criminal, not a victim. The case continues with additional testimonies expected.

The Agostina Vega femicide has drawn significant public attention in Argentina, with authorities expanding the scope of the inquiry and pursuing further evidence against all alleged participants.
