Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia visits Difunta Correa sanctuary and donates World Cup 2026 kit
Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Association, returned to the Difunta Correa sanctuary in Vallecito, San Juan, continuing a tradition of thanking the site after major tournament performances. During the visit he met former vice‑president Julio Cobos and recalled previous trips made after the 2022 World Cup and before the upcoming 2026 tournament.
Tapia also donated the jersey he wore at the 2026 World Cup to the sanctuary’s museum, creating a new exhibit that links the religious shrine with a landmark moment in Argentine football. The donation was received enthusiastically by sanctuary officials and pilgrims who frequent the site.
The visits underscore the symbolic link Tapia maintains between national football success and the popular devotion to the Difunta Correa, a figure revered by thousands of pilgrims in Argentina each year.
