Claudio Echeverri faces uncertain future at Manchester City

The professional future of Argentine midfielder Claudio Echeverri remains uncertain following his exclusion from Manchester City’s squad for the Community Shield match against Arsenal. Despite gaining playing time during the pre-season tour in Asia, Echeverri was not called up for the official season opener, which resulted in a 3-0 defeat for Manchester City.

Manager Enzo Maresca’s decision suggests that Echeverri may be low in the team’s hierarchy, with players such as Jack Grealish reportedly prioritized over him. Since arriving in European football, Echeverri has struggled for consistent playing time across stints with Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen, and Girona, recording two goals and two assists in 31 appearances.

Manchester City has previously rejected proposals for Echeverri to return to River Plate, preferring a loan move within Europe to facilitate further development. However, with the transfer window nearing its close and no concrete destination established, his status at the club remains in doubt.
