Claudio Lotito Nears Purchase of Italian Football Club Reggina

Italian-American entrepreneur Matt Rizzetta has withdrawn from negotiations to buy Reggina, leaving the club’s ownership dispute open to a consortium led by Lazio president Claudio Lotito. Lotito is reported to be within 48–72 hours of finalising the deal, with a proposed purchase price between €1.8 million and €2 million. Preparatory procedures are already underway in Rome, and Reggio Calabria mayor Francesco Cannizzaro has been actively following the talks.

Current club president Nino Ballarino has kept discussions with several potential buyers, but the offer linked to Lotito appears to have swayed his decision. The sale is seen as a chance to stabilise the club after years of ownership changes and three consecutive seasons in Serie D. Meanwhile, the club’s training complex at Sant’Agata has fallen into disrepair, raising concerns about facilities as the new ownership transition proceeds.
