Clayface tracks for $30M+ domestic opening amid strong pre-sales

DC Studios’ upcoming R-rated body horror film, ‘Clayface’, is showing strong early performance indicators ahead of its October 2026 release. The film, which features a reported $40 million production budget, is currently tracking for a domestic opening weekend of over $30 million, according to early ticket pre-sales and industry forecasts.

Directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, the film follows the story of Matt Hagen, a disfigured man who undergoes a treatment that alters his reality and leads him toward a path of revenge. The production is led by producers including Matt Reeves, James Gunn, and Peter Safran.

With a break-even point estimated between $80 million and $100 million worldwide, the film represents a lower-budget strategic gamble for DC Studios. It is scheduled for an international release on October 21, 2026, followed by a North American theatrical release on October 23, 2026.
