Clean energy expansion drives shifts in Australia and India

The clean energy sector is seeing significant shifts in both Australia and India. In Australia, the Clean Energy Council’s Renewable Energy Risk and Insurance Index highlights the growing maturity of the industry. The report notes that over 85% of respondents are now involved in battery storage projects. To accelerate project delivery, the report recommends faster approval pathways, improved grid infrastructure, and clearer national guidance on community benefit-sharing.

In India, a surge in clean energy has resulted in power-sector CO2 emissions remaining flat for two years, despite rising electricity demand. Solar energy additions have met 60% of the total rise in electricity demand over a two-year period. While fossil-fuel generation has stagnated, emissions from the steel and cement sectors have increased. Experts suggest that continued clean-energy expansion in India will require significant upgrades to the electricity grid and increased energy storage capacity.
