Clean Harbors acquires Terra Nova Solutions for $225 million
Clean Harbors announced an all‑cash acquisition of Terra Nova Solutions for $225 million, expanding its hazardous and non‑hazardous waste services in the Carolinas. The deal adds five treatment sites, giving Clean Harbors the capacity to treat 35 million gallons of wastewater and solidify more than 85 million gallons annually, plus about 150 specialized trucks and tankers.
Terra Nova’s operations are expected to generate $45‑$50 million in annual revenue and roughly $15 million in adjusted EBITDA. Clean Harbors projects $4 million in annual synergies after the first full year, resulting in an implied post‑synergy acquisition multiple of about 11.8×. The acquisition also brings over 100 employees into the Clean Harbors workforce.
Co‑CEOs Mike Battles and Eric Gerstenberg said the transaction strengthens the company’s technical and field services, adds cross‑selling opportunities, and aligns with their strategy of acquiring high‑return businesses that enhance core waste‑handling capabilities.
