Cleanest lakes and scenic water bodies identified in Poland

Recent reports highlight the ecological diversity and water quality of various lakes across Poland. In the Warmia-Masuria region, Herta Duża (also known as Żabie Oczko) is noted for its unique heart shape, visible via satellite imagery, and its scenic forest surroundings near Nowa Wieś Ełcka.

According to data analyzed by National Geographic from the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection (GIOŚ), eight lakes in Poland stand out for their exceptionally healthy ecosystems. Jezioro Płaskie in the Giby municipality recorded the best physico-chemical parameters, while Jezioro Ostrowite in Bory Tucholskie National Park is recognized for its high water transparency. Other notable clean lakes include Karskie Wielkie, Kirsajty, Kownatki, Lubowidzkie, Malcz Północny, and Włókna. Experts advise minimal human interference near these ecologically sensitive sites to preserve their unique environments.
